Privacy Policy

Effective June 2026

monitormypower (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information when you use our energy monitoring service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, full name, and business name. This information is used to identify your account and communicate with you about the service.
  • Utility bill data. When you upload a utility bill, we collect the information contained in that bill — including your business address, utility provider, rate per kilowatt-hour (kWh), usage history, and contract expiry date. This data is the core of your monitoring dashboard.
  • Usage data. We collect information about how you interact with the service, including pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the dashboard. This helps us understand how the service is being used and improve it over time.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Energy monitoring. To provide your dashboard, track your usage and costs over time, and display your contract expiry date and rate history.
  • Rate comparison. To compare your current rate against the Pennsylvania competitive market benchmark and generate personalized energy insights.
  • Service improvement. To understand how the service is used, diagnose technical issues, and improve the features and reliability of monitormypower.
  • Communication. To send you alerts when your contract is approaching expiry or when market conditions may be favorable for a rate review. We do not send unsolicited marketing email.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Supabase (data storage). Your account data, utility bill information, and usage history are stored securely on Supabase, our database and authentication provider. Supabase processes this data solely to provide storage and retrieval services to monitormypower.
  • Anthropic (AI bill analysis). When you upload a utility bill for AI analysis, the bill content is sent to Anthropic’s API to extract structured data such as your rate, usage, and contract date. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their API usage policies and does not use it to train their models.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal process, such as a court order or government request.

4. Data Security

We take the security of your information seriously and employ industry-standard safeguards:

  • Encryption in transit. All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). Your data is never transmitted in plain text.
  • Encryption at rest. Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure, which encrypts data at rest using AES-256.
  • Row-level security. Our database enforces row-level security (RLS) policies that ensure each user can only access their own data. No user can read or modify another user’s account, sites, or readings.
  • Authentication. We use Supabase Auth for secure, token-based authentication. Passwords are never stored in plain text.

While we take these precautions, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

5. Your Rights

You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Access. You can view the information stored in your account at any time through your dashboard and settings pages.
  • Update. You can update your profile information (name, business name) at any time through the Settings page.
  • Delete. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email address below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
